Your body's not who you are, and i am not talking like a cheap commercial on a diet product, but for the new mind bending series ''Altered Carbon'', dystopian future with date 2384,a society with the ability to tranfer the consiousness to a new body via the stack, a storage device of alien design which have been reverse engineered in the neck, and change your body / ''sleeves'' if, ofcourse you have the credit/money to do it. Every 250 years, a convict may be gain his freedom if solves a murder unsolved. In this case, a wealthy man who doesnt remember his death. What better chances for Takeshi Kovacs/ the Killing's Kinnaman, to solve the murder and find his way into a world bizarre and dangerous, and like Alice in Wonderland, to find the inner piece of the previous life memories with ease?
Society has been transformed by new technology, consciousness can be
digitized; human bodies are interchangeable? death is no longer
permanent thing, but rather a transition to a eternal life. First of all, ''Altered Carbon'' is the adaptation of the novel of Richard K. Morgan, but, it reminds me so much the ''Blade Runner'' surroundings, its almost identical and with many similarities to ''Total Recall''
and that is not a good thing for a new series. Dont get me wrong, i love it, i think that it has many things to say, immortality, death, soul, and i love the genious idea of the artificial intelligence of a hotel
or all the hard work to dive in in this dystopian future
but i think that the most serious reason to watch ''Altered Carbon'' is the presence of Kinnaman
the mastered fight scenes who reminds me also ''Matrix''
and how Kovacs interact with a hostile envornment and so out of his age ''modern'' society.
Surely it defines of a good quality stuff, with many pop-eye cgis and scenes, but i will like it better if it remains true to the novel roots without all that big fuz of impression. Many said that its a ''cyberpunk game of thrones'', i am just laughing when they tried to connect something entirely different with this. Is ''Blade Runner'' cyberpunk? Is ''Altered Carbon'' a vast world with kingdoms and families, with giants and dragons and walls, a high fantasy ? Stick with the originals, i will say. ''Altered Carbon'' has a unique style, and a story to explore. If the marketing compares with other projects, how can a viewer see it with an original look?
