THE AFFAIR#2: DESCENT

Let's start with the fact that  Noah is an asshole. Yeap, if I had the basic suspicions in the first season, the second season comes to flatten any hope on love, true love and blah blah blah.

If in the first season we were dealing with the illegal Noah-Alison relationship, the second season focuses on the divorce and the consequences that both -Helen and Cole- can have, both of them are victims of the affair, at least in the early episodes. Helen  lost and shocked is arrested stoned with the aluminum foil highlights in her hair betraying her mental state -amazing acting of Maura Tierney- officially belongs to the highlights of the affair,

 while Cole leads hours driving sleepless and drunk, with no more ties with his family.

 Alison spends hours alone and troubled as Noah's best seller -see the Descent- could portray her as something less than a slut and a couplebreaker, at a time that while Noah slurps every sip of success, amusing himself and getting stoned in silly hollywood parties, the remaining three sink into a descent that takes time to become an ascent, though new loves soothe broken hearts, 

but the murder of Scotty Lockheart still remains,

 and we reach the much coveted season finale that many believed that Noah NEEDS absolution. Me on the other hand I do NOT. I do not trust him. I partly justify him as the affair is now legitimate and with Alison pregnant, it enters again in the mood of miserable family and all of these family obligations that made him look elsewhere for passion. I understand that a writer needs experience. What I do not understand is the existence of four children from a man who has had enough family life. In how many children you get bored? In how many family dinners do you need to kiss someone else or swim naked in a full naked pool party and how embarassing is it to do what your teenage daughter does; Noah is an asshole, because Alison is a complex creature with fragile psychology, and a child dead, it is not fair for her to give birth alone in a storm while Noah enjoys the hangover of success through drugs and fourplay with other women, more beautiful, more sexual, more single than Alison is? And the recent decisions he made in court, Noah would easily throw Alison off a cliff to save his previous family with Helen.

The affair could be in every episode a psychoanalysis in human relations. The legal and illegal. Τhe new and the old. Material for Cynthia Nixon -fantastic guest as the wedding advisor-

material  and for all us who have been in similar situations. The second season surpasses the romance of the first, and lays the crane foundations for what is to come, bringing real time situations at a group of people who like their noose tightens drowning them more as the plot progresses. Many fronts open for the third season.

ps: Am I the only one who believes that Noah's view in the first season was the chapters in his book Descent ??

Aς ξεκινησω με το γεγονός οτι ο Noah is an asshole. Yeap, αν ειχα τις βασικες υποψίες στον πρώτο κύκλο, ο δεύτερος κύκλος ερχεται να ισοπεδωσει καθε ελπίδα περι ερωτος, πραγματικης αγαπης και μπλα μπλα μπλα.

 Αν στον πρωτο κύκλο ειχαμε να κανουμε με την παρανομη σχέση Noah-Alison, στον δεύτερο επικεντρώνεται στο διαζύγιο και τις συνέπειες που μπορεί να εχει τόσο στην Helen όσο και στον Cole, και οι δύο τα θυματα του the affair, τουλάχιστον στα πρώτα επεισόδια. Η Ηelen χαμένη και σοκαρισμένη συλλαμβάνεται μαστουρωμένη και με τα αλουμινόχαρτα ανταυγειών στα μαλλιά να προδίδει την ψυχική της κατάσταση-καταπληκτική ερμηνεία της Μaura Tierney που ανήκει επίσημα στο πρωταγονιστικό cast

 ενώ ο Cole οδηγει ωρες αυπνος και πιωμένος αποξενωμένος πια απ'την οικογένεια.

 Η Alison περναει ώρες μόνη και προβληματισμένη καθώς το best seller του Noah δες και Descent θα μπορούσε να την περιγράφει και κάτι λιγότερο απο slut και αντροχωρίστρα, σε μια περίοδο που ενώ ο Noah ρουφα κάθε γουλιά επιτυχίας διασκεδαζοντας και σνιφαροντας σε ανοητα hollywood parties, οι υπόλοιποι τρεις βυθίζονται σε μια κάθοδο που αργεί να γίνει ανοδος, καθώς ναι μεν καινουργιοι ερωτες απαλύνουν πληγωμένες καρδιές,

 αλλά η δολοφονία του Scotty Lockheart καλά κρατεί,

 και φτάνουμε στο πολυπόθητο season finale που πολλοι πιστεψαν οτι ο Noah χρηζει αφεσης αμαρτιων. Εγω παλι οχι. Δεν τον εμπιστεύομαι. Τον δικαιολογω εν μερη καθώς όταν το affair γίνεται νόμιμο και με την Alison εγκυο, μπαινει πάλι στο τριπάκι της μίζερης οικογένειας και όλων αυτων των οικογενειακών υποχρεωσεων που τον κανανε να αναζητησει αλλού τον έρωτα. Καταλαβαίνω ότι για έναν συγγραφέα χρειαζονται οι εμπειρίες. Αυτό που δεν καταλαβαίνω είναι η υπαρξη τεσσάρων παιδιών απο έναν αντρα που εχει βαρεθεί την οικογενειακή ζωή. Στα πόσα παιδιά εχεις βαρεθεί; Στα πόσα οικογενειακά δείπνα έχεις αναγκη να ξεσαλώνεις σε parties κολυμπώντας γυμνος σε full naked pool party και πόσο ντροπιαστικό να κάνεις ότι και η έφηβη κόρη σου; Noah is an asshole, γιατί η Αλισον είναι ένα πολυσύνθετο πλάσμα με ευθραστη ψυχολογία, και με ένα παιδί νεκρό, δεν είναι υπερβολικό να γεννάει μόνη της σε καταιγίδα ενώ ο Noah απολαμβανει το hangover της επιτυχιας μεσω drugs και fourplay με αλλες γυναίκες, πιο ομορφες,πιο σεξουαλικές,πιο singles απο οτι έχει γίνει η Alison; Και η τελευταια αποφαση που παιρνει στο δικαστηριο, ανετα θα πέταγε την Alison στο χείλος του γκρεμού για να σωσει την οικογένεια του με την Helen.

 Το affair θα μπορούσε να είναι σε καθε επεισόδιο και μια ψυχανάλυση στις ανθρωπινες σχεσεις. Στις νομιμες και στις παρανομες. Στις καινουργιες και στις παλιες. Υλικό για τη Cynthia Nixon-καταπληκτικό guesτ ως συμβουλος γάμου

-υλικό και σε όλους εμας που εχουμε βρεθεί σε παρόμοιες καταστάσεις. Ο δευτερος κύκλος ξεπερνα το ρομαντζο του πρωτου και θέτει θεμέλια γερα για τη συνεχεια, φερνοντας real time καταστασεις

ps: Είμαι ο μοναδικός που πιστεύω ότι η αποψη του Noah στον πρωτο κύκλο δεν ήταν παρα τα κεφάλαια του βιβλίου του Descent??
